Postgraduate Development and Marketing:
The Challenge of 2015
Friday 4th November 2011London House, Goodenough College, London
1 day
At last the discussion about the future of Universities in the UK now includes reference to the postgraduate offer. It may seem a distant prospect but for once institutions have time to plan for change in the postgraduate environment - if they start now! A small number of universities have begun the process - the majority have as yet not!
This workshop will cover the approaches institutions might adopt as the postgraduate market becomes increasingly competitive, potentially much smaller and certainly different from that traditionally offered by many UK universities.
Most institutions, faculties and departments have in the past wanted more and better postgraduate students. The Browne report and subsequent White Paper makes this increasingly problematic. Indeed for many the postgraduate market looks bleak unless significant changes are made at institutional level. This workshop is for colleagues involved in postgraduate development and marketing at corporate, faculty or departmental level, whether marketer, academic or administrator. It will bring together academic and administrative colleagues in an environment where different perspectives can be shared and discussed.
The workshop will be led by Professor Howard Green with Amanda Brook and Phil Williams Philip Williams is a marketing professional with 20 years experience in further and higher education and previous marketing roles in the printing and IT industries.
He has held senior marketing roles at Keele University and the University of Huddersfield where he managed the University's first integrated promotional campaigns. Philip specialises in campaign management and marketing research and evaluation. He has considerable experience of web-development and the integration of social networking into student communications.
Philip is a graduate of Leeds University and holds Chartered Marketer status with the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He works freelance from Cheshire.
